The California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) has awarded StopWaste.Org the 2009 Outstanding Waste Prevention Program award...and Polaris was part of the award-winning campaign team!
StopWaste.Org's "Use Reusables" campaign helps businesses reduce costs and improve their environmental performance by replacing limited-use pallets, boxes and other transport packaging materials with durable, reusable alternatives. In theory it sounds great. Who could argue with saving money and being socially responsible in one fell swoop?
Slam dunk! Two-points for Polaris and StopWaste.Org! The crowd goes wild! Whoo-hoo!!!
Right? Wrong.
For better or worse, there's a lot more involved for a business than just switching out packaging products--and they KNOW it. There's new equipment to purchase, new systems to put in place, employees to train, safety checks to complete, logistics to coordinate...the list goes on and on. So together with StopWaste.Org, our job was to make the decision to switch to reusables more enticing.
To start, our own Greg Stine lead on strategy development and wrote the marketing plan. We then named the campaign, produced marketing materials, and consulted on website design and development. Further, our creative team wrote the campaign copy and collaborated with the graphic artist on visuals.
It was a lot of work, but we're proud of our contribution to the "Use Reusables" campaign. For more information about StopWaste.org, visit their website at www.stopwaste.org. For more about the Use Reusuables program, visit www.usereusables.com.
